Creoula
The Creoula project will utilise innovative and cutting-edge floating offshore wind technologies to produce zero-carbon electricity. This project will be a steppingstone for Portugal to progress towards a net-zero future. This will contribute to the Portuguese government’s installed offshore wind targets for 2030.
The Creoula project will be located in front of the coast of Viana do Castelo (North Region). The IberBlue Wind team have submitted the Letter of Interest to the Secretaries of State of Energy and Maritime Affairs. This is a required step in the permitting process which includes the intention to carry out the project and additionally, technical information about the feasibility of the project.
Creoula, jointly with its sibling project, Juan Sebastián Elcano could constitute the first cross-border project. A pioneering joint project that would be huge benefits for both countries, which among many other things, shared the same electricity network for years.
IberBlue Wind is committed to working together with civil society, coastal communities, governments, and industry to reach a consensus, with the aim of benefiting the region while respecting the environment. The team will undertake stakeholder engagement with relevant stakeholders; including governments, city councils, associations and other sea users, etc., with the aim of: listening, learning and informing.
